Booking a recording session:

Session bookings, times and dates are subject to availability and approval from a member of The Cream Room team. The Cream Room Recording Studio Ltd reserve the right to refuse and reschedule. Bookings can be made by the following methods only and are not valid until confirmed by email and any required deposit paid.

A deposit will be requested and must be paid before your booking can be confirmed. These deposits are non refundable or transferable. The remainder of the studio bill should be paid in full before each day of your session. Failure to produce full payment will result in the studio withholding all copies of recordings, masters or session files until all fees have been paid and funds have cleared. Further failure to pay will result in prosecution. If the recording session is broken up over a period of time, payment may be required either in advance or in instalments to cover time that has been used. The Studio management reserves the right to implement these payment terms where applicable.

Service provided

The Studio will provide studio time and the services of a recording engineer for the duration required by the Client (unless instructed otherwise). Any additional services requested, including, but not limited to, mixing, mastering, creating additional tracks, and adding to or modifying tracks when done outside the studio time agreed will incur additional fees.

Studio time includes setup time, break down time, and any breaks taken by the artist(s) or engineer. The standard studio “day” is normally 10am until 6pm.  Additional time can be agreed if appropriate and is at the discretion of the engineer.  Additional hours / over-run not previously agreed on studio days will be charged at the standard rate hourly rate (£40 per hour).

Session times include an allowance for a break of up to 15 minutes every 2 hours to alleviate ear fatigue. The engineer will also be allowed one meal break of up to 45 minutes per 8 hour session and an additional meal break for sessions lasting longer than eight (8) hours.

48 hours notice is required for the cancellation of a session.  This includes weekends and bank holidays. If a session is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, the full cost of the session will be charged. Allowances for cancellations due to extreme circumstances are made at the discretion of The Cream Room Recording Studio Ltd management. If The Studio must cancel a session due to illness or other reasonable cause, The Studio will reschedule the session for the earliest available time consistent with the needs of the Client. In the event neither the Client nor the Studio can agree upon a date and time for a session, The Studio will refund the deposit.

Backing up / Storage

All session files are held on The Studio hard drives for a minimum of 6 months after project completion unless otherwise specified. After that time, files may be permanently deleted unless other arrangements have been made. Files for ongoing projects or regular bookings will not be deleted.  Please bring a backup storage device if you require your transfer of your recorded files.

Backing up or copying to external media or to an external hard drive supplied by the Client if not done during the recording session will be billed at the normal hourly rate of £40.00 per hour;  billed in intervals of one half (0.5) of an hour or portion thereof with a minimum billing for this service of £25.00. The Client shall provide his or her own external media and/or hard drives for this purpose. The Client will not have access to such media until all payments due The Studio have been made.
